This summer MOTO will hold a special youth programe that will give teenagers a chance to engage in community-based theater and performance art training. Actors, artists, musicians, and educators will provide free workshops on basic playwriting and acting, visual, narrative, and musical storytelling, and a combination of conventional and experimental techniques for one week, ending with a live performance at Mini Teater given by the participants. The purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity and outlet for youth expression and creativity; and provide tools for critical thinking and communication. Using the poem “Where I’m From” by the American poet George Ella Lyons as a starting point, participants will be exposed to a variety of approaches and techniques to present their unique stories about home, community life, traditions, and culture. Workshops will be taught in a variety of languages - Slovenian, Serbian, and English, reflecting the diverse perspectives of the teachers.

The workshops are are a project by independent artist and researcher Nathanael Andreini with support from Mini teater and Zveza Prijateljev Mladine Lj. Moste-Polje.
