Is it possible to create an underground river? I became fascinated with the idea of going underground and discovering a stream of water. In a specific area north of Ljubljana the groundwater level lowers 4 meter within a distance of 200 meters. This allowed me to influence the gradient of the ground water. I designed an underground pavilion where visitors descend into a space and experience an underground river. The space become darker and darker the further you go down in order to prevent plants from growing in the water and interfering with the stream. The ground water arrives through the small holes in the walls of the pavilion. After it arrives at the floor of the pavilion the water is collected in a bassin and streams towards the backside of the underground building.
