Phone Home, Inc. is an installation that allows the viewer to experience the time delay that occurs during interplanetary communication. The speed of communication is limited by the speed of light. This means one has to wait a few seconds for a message to arrive from the Moon, and between 5-20 minutes for one to arrive from Mars. Time delay in communication will be a significant factor in space colonization. While not obvious, this effect will greatly influence how social relationships might evolve in space.
