GLASS - Steklarna Hrastnik, d.o.o.

Visiting a pressed glass factory is fascinating. In an endless dance, the hot red glowing mass seems to fly, seized in mid-air by machines and human hands, only to become a very solid product in the end. Working 235 days a year, Steklarna Hrastnik is a Slovene company with a long tradition. Ernest Nograšek and Annika Frye spent much time in this mysterious place, trying to understand and learn from the craftsmen as well as from the machines. Their projects take different roads, but both designers worked with particular aspects of this industrial craft and transferred their experiences into poetic, seemingly accidental projects.
