On Friday, 5 December 2014, the Museum of Architecture and Design hosted the conference on design policy in Slovenia, as one of the closing events of the Biennial of Design – BIO 50.
BIO 50 served as an inspiration for exchanging views and opinions on design in the future. The views on cooperation at BIO were presented by MAO director Matevž Čelik, BIO 50 curator Jan Boelen and team members and partners - Tina Gregorič, mentor, Nanotourism, Ivan Stanič, City of Ljubljana, Urban Planning Department, Alessandro Fonte, architect, Hidden Crafts, Aidan Cerar, RCKE/RRALUR, Elena Fajt, fashion designer, Fashion System (not present, her statement was read by Maja Vardjan), Andrej Drapal, Consensus d. o. o., Nuša Jelenec, designer, Knowing Food, Klara Zalokar and Klemen Zupančič, architects and designers, Hidden Crafts, and Jurij Krpan, mentor, Designing Life.
The main topic of the conference was the question how design can be more recognized and successful in gaining more means for development and work. The new circumstances bring new opportunities and needs for design, offering solutions to the challenges in society and the economy. The conference at MAO was part of an effort to more integrated design policy in Slovenia.
