GENERIC AS AN IDEA FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Fala Atelier proposes the idea of standard forms as an idea for social(ist) housing and a form of affordable living. The available area per person is reduced to a minimum, with a limited set of basic partitions. The modules can »fill the gaps« in the city, or create new autonomous structures. An identical module is proposed for all; the same units can serve both rich and poor. There is almost no architecture: the proposal consciously designs in favour of a low cost prototypical housing solution. Ornament and larger areas are seen as optional add-ons.
